Database Developer

We are seeking to recruit a Database Developer to join our growing Information Management practice.
The role
- Working with IS and business customers from conception to implementation of solutions
- Participant in the development and presentation of strategic data warehouse strategies
- Building of Data manipulation and transformation processes from operation data stores
- Data modelling for commercial applications from system requirements
- Becoming key player in our company wide database group
- Working across application development teams under aggressive deadlines
- Stored Procedure and Trigger design, development and optimisation
- Mentoring and support of junior team members as required
The person will ideally have
- A degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related discipline is highly desirable
- A minimum of 3 years relevant commercial experience
- Significant, practical experience of:
- At least one mainstream RDBMS (e.g. MS SQL Server, UDB/DB2, SYBASE, ORACLE)
- SQL - writing stored procedures
- Application Reporting Tools
- High volume databases servicing large numbers of concurrent users
- Good communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Skilled in planning and management of scope of work and time estimation
- Database design and construction experience
- Business intelligence experience
Desirable criteria
- Cognos experience
