Respected Bell to call IT a day

As a group, the company has just reported a 23 per cent increase in second quarter net income. Earnings represented the best first half year result in Liberty Mutual’s 93 year history. The Belfast operation provides software support for LMG, a leading global insurer and sixth largest property and casualty insurer in the US.

Mr Bell, who is taking early retirement and will be succeeded by William Hamilton as MD said the company was in good shape for the future.

“The software sector in Northern Ireland is in better shape than it has ever been, following some difficult years.

“Thankfully, Liberty IT has been insulated from any of these difficulties as we have grown steadily every year since our foundation.

“We have been aided in our growth because of the excellent staff we have in Belfast and the progressive approach of our parent company in the US, I know that the future also holds great prospects and growth, and I wish Willy all the best in his new role”.

Edmund Kelly, Liberty Mutual Group chairman, President and CEO, praised Mr Bell for the success of the Belfast operation.

Willy Hamilton said over the years the Belfast operation had successfully managed some exciting software development projects for the Liberty Mutual Group.

“We are currently delivering projects to a range of Liberty businesses, from Regional Agency markets to Liberty International Underwriting in London,” he said.

“We will continue to build on our past successes. Going forward, I expect further growth within the IT sector and Liberty IT and I am excited about having to lead Liberty IT in the future.”
