Liberty IT Adding 35 Jobs in First Half 2011 Giving it More Than 320 Employees

Liberty Information Technology Ltd. (Liberty IT), a wholly owned subsidiary of global insurer Liberty Mutual Group, today announced it would add 35 new jobs during the first half of 2011, which is a 25 per cent growth rate in new employees hired at the software development company since the beginning of 2010.

The employment expansion will bring Liberty IT's total number of employees to more than 320 at its operations on Adelaide Street in Belfast's City Centre. Liberty Mutual started Liberty IT in Belfast in 1997 to provide software development support to its insurance operations throughout the world.

Along with the new jobs, Liberty IT announced that the Department of Education and Learning has awarded the company support under the Assured Skills programme towards assistance with the training costs for the new recruits.

"Liberty IT's software development contributions have helped Liberty Mutual become a leading global property and casualty insurer, and we're delighted to make today's announcement of continued job creation in Belfast," said Edmund F. Kelly, Liberty Mutual Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "The quality and dedication of the region's workforce is superb, which has helped Liberty IT sustain strong employment growth as it supports Liberty Mutual's strategic technology initiatives."

James McGlennon, Liberty Mutual Group Chief Information Officer said, "Our technology capabilities must keep pace with the demands and complexity of Liberty Mutual Group's operations and customer needs, both of which exist throughout the world. Today's announcement demonstrates our commitment and confidence in Liberty IT and its ability to develop leading edge software."

William Hamilton, Managing Director of Liberty IT commented, "We have been creating jobs in Belfast since our inception in 1997, made possible in part because of the strong and essential support of partners such as the Department of Education and Learning. We thank them for their commitment."

Liberty IT provides Liberty Mutual Group with a diverse range of value-added services beyond its core software development activities, including business analysis, infrastructure engineering, information management, automated system verification, automated performance and load testing.

Liberty Information Technology was named among the Top 50 UK companies by the 'Great Places to Work Institute' in 2010. Companies that make this list are evaluated and selected primarily on the basis of employee feedback.
