GPTW top 50 award for Liberty IT

Belfast-based Liberty Information Technology has been ranked as one of the UK's Top 50 best places to work in an influential survey published today by the Great Place to Work Institute UK.

The leading software firm is owned by Liberty Mutual Group of Boston, Massachusetts - the Fortune 100 company which employs more than 45,000 people in 900 offices worldwide.

Liberty Information Technology won the accolade primarily on the basis of feedback received though a Great Place to Work survey of its 300-strong workforce designed to measure credibility, fairness, respect, pride, and camaraderie.
Advantages singled out for special praise by staff include the firm's city centre location, free access to an on-site gym and a very active company social scene. Other benefits rated highly by employees included high quality training, genuine friendship and respect among staff at all levels and Liberty Mutual's ethos of ‘doing the right thing'.

Managing Director, William Hamilton said he was delighted to receive the award on behalf of the company for the second year in succession, having broken into the Top 50 rankings for the first time last year. "It is our staff - above all - who make this a great place to work. Here in Belfast we are responsible for a number of key technologies within Liberty Mutual's global operations. For this reason it is vital that we recruit, develop and retain people who have exceptional academic talents and who can also take on responsibility and make good team players. Securing a place in the UK Top 50 listing is a terrific achievement because it reflects the very high levels of employee satisfaction that exist within our company. To gain national recognition for this is something that Liberty IT and indeed the whole of Northern Ireland can be very proud of."

Praising this year's winners, Tom O'Byrne, chief executive, Great Place to Work Institute UK said: "On behalf of everyone at Great Place to Work, I congratulate all our winners for their outstanding achievement in being ranked one of the UK's best workplaces for 2011. Being a great place to work is more than just good pay and perks. It's about good leadership - not just about commanding trust and respect but setting an example by giving it."
