Professional Development

Our employees are critical to our success and we are dedicated to providing them with opportunities to have long and fulfilling careers at Liberty IT. Inherent to this is a commitment for us all to continue to learn, develop new skills and take responsibility for managing our own careers.

We are a career-building organisation and believe training, development and coaching prepares our employees to be successful and we seek to promote from within. As such, we invest heavily in training to enhance our people’s technical skills and business knowledge through instructor-led and online training.

We also know it is vitally important to provide professional development opportunities to ensure staff are well-rounded in their communication, customer-based and business skills thus successfully preparing them for future career opportunities. Furthermore, the technical certification programmes we offer are wide and varied including Sun JAVA, Microsoft, ISEB, and ITIL.

Here are some examples of the training courses our employees have been on recently:

  • Advanced DB2 and Performance Tuning
  • JSF2/Primefaces
  • Web Application Security
  • Javascript as a First Class Language
  • Advanced Web Design
  • Software Design Principles
  • Consulting and Customer Skills
  • Advanced Professional Communication Skills
  • Designing Business Intelligence Solutions with Microsoft® SQL Server®
  • MS Powershell training
  • MS Advanced Lync

However, we know that not all learning takes place during a training course and so mentoring and coaching from team members are key in ensuring our new employees settle in quickly and integrate into the organisation effectively. Lunch and learn sessions, internal technology forums, our Innovation Programme, external guest speakers and online collaboration ensures your knowledge and networks continue to grow.

Likewise, we encourage our staff to attend external conferences to learn from world leaders in the IT industry. Recent conferences we’ve attended include:

  • SharePoint Conference 2014, Las Vegas
  • Java One, San Francisco
  • QCon, London
  • IBM Impact, Las Vegas
  • Microsoft Tech Ed, Amsterdam
  • GOTO, Amsterdam
  • JSConf, Berlin
