How Pride is helping build everyday allyship at Liberty IT

Pride is our employee group for LGBTQ+ employees and allies. It gives people a place to connect, learn and be visible throughout the year.

The Certified Ally Training Programme helps employees better understand LGBTQ+ experiences and feel more confident showing allyship at work. It covers LGBTQ+ history, language, identity and practical allyship, with a clear focus on what people can do day to day.

Allyship that shows up in everyday moments

Allyship can show up in small, practical ways.

Using inclusive language. Adding pronouns to a Teams profile. Wearing a Pride lanyard. Speaking up when something doesn't feel right. Taking time to understand someone else’s experience before making assumptions.

The programme gives people space to learn and ask questions. It also helps keep the conversation going beyond Pride Month.

Alongside the Certified Ally Training Programme, Pride runs learning sessions, knowledge shares, office celebrations and Pride events across Belfast, Dublin and Galway.

I have to say, I've seen first-hand how diversity within a group challenges the status quo, stimulates new thinking, and creates richer ideas, and therefore it makes absolute business sense.

300+ employees have taken part

More than 300 Liberty IT employees have completed the programme so far.

That number matters because it shows allyship being taken up across the business, not only by the Pride group itself. People are choosing to learn, reflect and put that learning into practice.

Pride developed the programme with support from Stonewall. Their workplace inclusion programme helps employers create more inclusive experiences for LGBTQ+ people.

A visible sign of support

Employees who complete the programme can request a Pride lanyard or sticker.

It is a small signal, but it matters. It helps people know there are others around them who want our workplace to feel welcoming, respectful and safe for LGBTQ+ employees.

All part of our inclusive experience

The Certified Ally programme is one way Pride helps us build a more inclusive experience.

It gives employees practical ways to show allyship, from the words they use to the support they offer in meetings, team conversations and everyday moments.
