STEAM Studio is one of the ways we do that. Delivered collaboratively with local museums, it brings coding and creativity together through hands-on workshops for schools across the island of Ireland.
What does STEAM stand for?
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Maths. STEAM focuses on sparking imagination and creativity through the arts in ways that naturally align with STEM learning.
By designing and building their own arcade games, students develop problem-solving skills while bringing their ideas to life. The programme was created by Liberty IT and shaped with student feedback to make it accessible, relevant and fun.
Most importantly, it helps young people see technology as something they can create and shape for themselves.

STEAM Studio is designed for students aged 13 to 15 and is free for schools to attend. We want as many young people as possible to take part, so we help remove barriers to participation, including supporting transport costs where needed.
Students use school-approved coding platforms during the workshops, making it easy to continue learning and experimenting once they return to the classroom.
For many students, STEAM Studio is their first experience of coding. It encourages curiosity, builds confidence and helps young people see themselves as creators, problem-solvers and future innovators.
It's also one of the ways we give back to our communities. By sharing skills, creating opportunities and inspiring future talent, we're helping more young people imagine a future in technology.
When a student builds their first game with a STEAM Studio ambassador beside them, technology stops being abstract. We get to be part of that moment - helping young people see what they’re capable of.
