STEAM Studio is an exciting new digital skills initiative from Liberty IT and National Museums NI.

Together we've developed a collaborative workspace at the Ulster Museum, which hosts a free workshops connecting coding and technology with the museum experience for schools across the region.

What is STEAM Studio?

The programme content was developed and designed by Liberty IT and tested with a range of Key Stage 3 pupils to inspire and upskill students in coding and enable them to design, code and create their own arcade game inspired by the museum’s collections!

We use a school and C2K-approved coding platform that will allow students and teachers to continue their work following the visit.

Hear from our team...

Our team, partners, and pilot schools share more about this digital skills initiative, connecting coding and technology within the Ulster Museum.

Who is the programme for?

The 4-hour interactive workshop has been devised to suit students in Years 8 to 10, from any secondary school in Northern Ireland. Up to 20 students can take part in each workshop, which run on Mondays during term time.

How much does it cost?

The programme is free for NI schools. To ensure as many schools as possible have the opportunity to take part in this unique workshop, we will reimburse the cost of the school's bus hire.

What does STEAM stand for?

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Maths. STEAM focuses on sparking imagination and creativity through the arts in ways that naturally align with STEM learning.

How do I book a space?

Teachers can head over to the Ulster Museum's website to request a slot. A member of the booking team will get back to you to confirm availability.

Places on the programme are limited, so we offer them on a first-come, first-served basis. If there are no places left when you request to book, you'll join a waiting list and will be notified when a place becomes available.
