A decade of putting people first: what 10 years as a Best Workplace means for Liberty IT

At Liberty IT, one thing has remained constant: our culture

In the world of technology, a decade feels more like an eternity. Since 2016, the way we design, build and deploy software has shifted almost beyond recognition.

We have moved from monolithic architectures to cloud-native ecosystems, seen the rise of data science as a core discipline and entered the era of Generative AI. While the tools we use are always in motion, one thing at Liberty IT has remained constant: our culture.

Recently, we were recognised for the 10th consecutive year on the 2026 Best Workplaces in Ireland list by Great Place to Work. To mark this milestone, we were presented with a Laureate Award, an honour reserved for organisations that maintain a place on the list for a decade.

In addition, we’ve also ranked 15th among Medium Organisations, recognising workplaces where trust and respect underpin culture and where employee wellbeing and growth are prioritised.

For us, these awards reflect the environment we’ve built for over 800 people across Belfast, Dublin and Galway. It’s proof that when you put people first, engineering excellence follows.

Marking the milestone

Reaching ten consecutive years on the Best Workplaces in Ireland list is something we’re proud of, but it’s also something we’ve built step by step. The recognition is based on employee feedback, reflecting how our people experience working at Liberty IT day to day.

It highlights the importance of trust, respect and creating an environment where people feel supported to grow and contribute.

Over the past number of years, a range of initiatives and milestones have played a role in strengthening our culture and supporting our teams, including opening new offices in Dublin and Galway, hosting conferences focused on learning, innovation, and connection, such as Forward Live, and introducing our Culture Playbook, which is based on employee insights and real team conversations.

Why culture is important to our code

At Liberty IT, culture and engineering don’t exist in separate silos; they are deeply connected. High-quality code depends on an environment built on trust - when engineers feel supported, they make better technical decisions and feel empowered to advocate for quality, challenge existing architectures, and address technical debt instead of rushing towards quick, unstable solutions.

This cultural consistency has taught us that when you aren’t afraid to fail, you are much more likely to experiment and find the right solution to a complex problem.

A shared achievement

This recognition reflects the contribution of all of our people across the organisation. As Tony Marron, Managing Director and Global Engineering Capability Lead, said:

We are very proud to mark a decade on the Best Workplaces in Ireland list with this special Laureate Award. It is a great achievement and a real testament to our people and the culture we have built - one based on trust, respect and a shared commitment to technical excellence.

Our continued success depends on creating an environment where talented people can innovate, collaborate and continue to learn.

A place to build a career

As we look to the next decade, our focus remains unchanged: to build a place where talented people can thrive. We want Liberty IT to be a home for those who stay curious, value mentorship, and seek to develop technology that has a meaningful global impact.
